hi.DEFF hosts fashion mixer in Soho
Last Wednesday night, editors, PRs, emerging designers and tastemakers alike joined for a night of revelry at The Yard at the SoHo Grand. The common factor that brought the fashionable flock together? hi.DEFF: a vaguely mysterious, members-only club, whose mission is to fuse together the “new guard” of fashion professionals.
Curious? We thought so.
Founded by friends Justine Harman (an assistant editor at People.com and PeopleStyleWatch.com), Lindsay Niggeman (an account manager at WIRED) and Lizzie Rosenberg (an associate merchant at J.Crew), hi.DEFF was born when they cobbled a list of the contacts with whom they work, but rarely converge, within their own corner of the industry- genius! Their first tête-à-tête, a gathering at the Jane in late March, brought out the likes of stylist Annabel Tollman, Wall Street Journal’s Rachel Dodes, WWD’s Rachel Strugatz and Leandra “The Man Repeller” Medine.
The second installment or shall we say, fashion mixer, was accompanied by potent rum punch, handmade leather friendship bracelets and Timo Weiland designer Alan Eckstein’s bumping beats. With a laid-back arena, guests including Teen Vogue’s Mary-Kate Steinmiller, Gilt’s Melissa Liebling-Goldberg and CFDA’s Johanna Stout were able to connect without an agenda.
