We asked Simone D. of our Fashion PR team to show off her week of looks just leading up to NYFW. “I’m inspired by real people. My mom, for one. She’s one chic lady. I love going home and looking through old photos of her evolution through the years. That hair! Also, love working here in SoHo and people watching with so many pretty young things out and about in the street. People really have fun with fashion.”
Day 1

What are you wearing?
Caulfield Prep shirt, H&M skirt I’ve had for what seems like an eternity, vintage Chanel bag and Boutique 9 sandals
Any special stories related to anything you have on today?
The special story is that you all ambushed me for this project, so this outfit was completely unprepared for speculation and a photo shoot. It is a mix of relatively uneventful purchases and acquisitions along the way.
What is your favorite thing about this outfit?
I absolutely adore all of the awesome little wolf faces on this shirt. I have a thing for wolves. But, this bag is one of the best things I own, period. I get compliments on it all the time. It was a gift from my aunt who used to work for Chanel. However, since I wear it so often and it endures quite a bit of wear-and-tear, it should probably be refurbished soon.
How does this outfit work for your work day?
I love how there aren’t any stringent rules here with regard to appropriate office attire. As you can see through the past posts, everyone is free to let their personalities shine though a variety of outfit choices. This skirt today is a bit short for sitting but he flats let me run up and down the stairs easily.
Day 2

What are you wearing?
VPL dress, Levi’s jacket, Lia Sophia earrings, Zara heels
Any special stories related to anything you have on today?
A few years ago an editor friend popped by my office to give me a nice little assortment of Lia Sophia jewelry, including these earrings. I was so surprised! It was really sweet.
What is your favorite thing about this outfit?
This dress. I wear it all the time. You can dress it up or way down and it has one longer sleeve which makes it unique. These shoes were a good find, too. From Zara so obviously affordable, but really cute and comfy!
How does this outfit work for your work day?
It’s totally appropriate for both day appointments and after-work dinner/drinks. Just lose the jacket and I’m good to go.
Day 3

What are you wearing?
Vena Cava vest, Marc Jacobs tank, Zara pants, no-name sandals, vintage aquamarine ring, American Apparel leather pouch
Any special stories related to anything you have on today?
I found the pants on a sale rack at Zara – they were the only ones left. I think they were something like 20 bucks and were my best purchase all season. I have been living in them – they’re so light and airy and I love the wild skin pattern. The ring was custom made for my grandmother and then handed down through my mom to me, since aquamarine is my birthstone. I don’t really wear a lot of jewelry but the ring is like second skin. The sandals I got at some tiny little boutique in Harlem when I moved here and lived there 8 years ago. I can’t remember the name of the shop but am pretty sure they used to burn a lot of Nag Champa.
What is your favorite thing about this outfit?
The ring is obviously special to me since it’s an heirloom and I love the unique triangular shape. Besides that, the tank. I really like the saturated acid-yellow color and that it’s this super fine and gauzy cashmere knit which feels like heaven against your skin.
How does this outfit work for your work day?
I’m meeting an old friend after work for a casual dinner on his roof. I wanted to be comfortable and it may get chilly so I thought pants and layered tops were key.
Day 4

What are you wearing?
Vivienne Tam dress, unknown brand lace camisole, American Apparel skirt, vintage Chanel flats, MAC lipstick in Amplified
Any special stories related to anything you have on today?
The dress is from one of my best friends who used to do PR for Vivienne Tam years ago. I like how you can play around with what to wear underneath and change the look of it.
What is your favorite thing about this outfit?
The shoes. I love the dark green color and that they are a bit pointier than the more recent versions of this cap-toe style.
How does this outfit work for your work day?
I was really dragging this morning after the crazy hurricane weekend and chose the bright lipstick color to add energy to my face. I love just applying a bright lip and nothing else – it really cuts my makeup time down exponentially, allowing me to get out the door quickly!
Day 5

What are you wearing?
Equipment blouse, Helmut Lang skirt, Pour la Victiore sandals, LL Bean signature bag, old school gold religious relic necklace
Any special stories related to anything you have on today?
My close friend is the designer for Equipment’s new “Homme” line and gave me this shirt as a gift during one of my recent visits to L.A. The pendant was given to me by family members on my dad’s side (the Catholic side) for my First Communion.
What is your favorite thing about this outfit?
The necklace is dear to me – it is engraved on the back with the date I had my first communion and on the front it says “Our Lady of Guadalupe – Pray for Us.” It has been with me through some crazy situations both in California and New York and though I’m not overtly religious, I have a feeling it has helped protect me along the way. I also love this shirt because I can wear it with almost everything and it’s so soft and cozy, I could sleep in it. I just ordered another one in nude today!
How does this outfit work for your work day?
It’s super comfortable, which is a must, but just polished enough so I don’t feel like a schlub. I actually had some nice heels on earlier but this shoot took too long for me to leave them on. Luckily, I’m tall – I can get away with chic flats most days in the summertime.
