Shameless plug.

I just arrived back from Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival after screening my documentary East of Havana about Cuba’s youth culture. After traveling for over a year with this film, the Q&A’s are only getting better and better regarding the future of Cuba. Sony/Bmg bought the film so hopefully you’ll be seeing it on DVD sometime next year. For updates, just go to our East of Havana blogroll link (right hand side of screen).

The doc is featured in the current issue of The Journal (a class act operation out of Brooklyn). Its an independent high-quality quarterly covering contemporary arts, culture, music, skateboarding, snowboarding and all the unique individuals in that world. Each issue is a collectors item. This is the EOH feature with photographs of our characters by Jason Florio, who we dragged to Cuba on the making of this film.

All good things come to an end.

At least all things should come to an end if they want to keep the mystery alive. Its not so much that the Misshapes are breaking up. Its more like they are “shifting” their energies to bigger and better things. They’ve grown up! What began as three East Village roomies hosting a weekend party has now become sort of an international barometer of new fashions, lifestyle, and music. Greg has officially become our office jet-setter. But dont take our word for it…

The 3 DJ collective just flew into New York City for 1 night from Toronto Film Fest for their Saturday swan song and to bid farewell to their loyal weekly soiree who had everyone from M.I.A. to Madonna guest DJ’ing. Of course the last night had 1 big occassion — Celebrating the Misshapes coffeetable book published by MTV. Images of the book from New York Magazines Intelligence Report online.
